New Music on Ancient Chinese
Bells
Join us for the third presentation in an annual educational
series produced by the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra
(VICO), which aims to shed new light on the art of intercultural
music-making. VICO Co-Artistic Director and composer Mark
Armanini will bring audiences stories and musical discoveries
from his recent trip to Wuhan, China to study the famous Zeng Hou
Yi Tomb Bells. This magnificent 65-piece bronze bell set dates from
433 BC, the era of Confucius. Imagine the creative potential that
lies in these ancient instruments, for which no musical scores survive…

Music of the Whole World is a free
educational presentation of the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra
(VICO) in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library. The aim
of this six part series is to provide access to educational materials
that deal with the art of intercultural music making. Whether you
are a veteran composer, a beginning student of music, or simply
a music lover wishing to learn more about the many musics of world
and the bridges between them, this series is one you will not want
to miss.
